appear to be a new way of securing vacations around the world at a fraction of their recommended prices. Bidding online for package holidays, weekend breaks and other holiday types seem to be making waves, with more and more holidaymakers taking the holiday auction route.
So, what do you fancy? A relaxing break for two in the Scottish Highlands, a weekend break in one of the many romantic cities around the world, (Barcelona, Rome, New York, Paris, London) or perhaps an all inclusive package holiday for the whole family, somewhere really exotic, like the Maldives, Thailand or the Caribbean? If you really enjoy globetrotting, perhaps holiday auctions might make trying one of each more affordable than ever before!
I am sure we all have fond memories of places we have visited and favourite holidays in different parts of the world. It is so easy to fall in love with different cities and countries and very often for different reasons as each place unveils its own set of charms and qualities.
Some of my favourite vacations have included places close to home and much further afield. One of my earliest holiday memories is from Scotland and the fantastic highlands, with its mountains and lakes. As a fan of mountains, Switzerland is also a personal highlight! Towering alpine snow covered peaks, with cowbells ringing as you travel through the valleys and hills. The glorious lakes, such as Lugano, which also straddles the Italian border, and the enchanting towns of Interlaken and Lucerne, once again surrounded by those majestic alps.
Monte Carlo and that wonderful coast in the South of France is another definite travel highlight. I remember we stayed in San Remo, just across into Italy and went travelling along the French Riviera on day trips. Cannes, Nice, St Tropez, all fantastic but Monte Carlo with all its glitz, glamour and motor racing fame was just wonderful! Even the travelling itself was amazing, with the cliffs and mountains on one site and the sparkling Mediterranean on the other.
Barcelona, however, may even top all of those destinations above, and I only spent an afternoon and evening there! What a place! Vibrant, colourful, with wonderful distractions at every turn, this is a place I promised that one day I would return for a longer stay.
Perhaps now that holiday auctions have arrived, all of these places and many more besides are going to become much more accessible to a wider group of travellers as the prices take a tumble.
